Will wearing an Apple watch in Bangkok attract too much attention?

I don't flaunt money or the things I have. Is it okay to wear an Apple watch in public in Bangkok, or is it too flashy and will it attract the wrong kind of attention?

Thanks in advance.

honestly you're overthinking it. thais wear apple watches all the time, even grab drivers and street vendors have them. if you're really worried just swap the band for a basic silicon one instead of the metal or leather ones. the only thing that'll make you stand out is if you're walking around with a fancy camera dangling from your neck or counting cash in the open

You see more Apple Watches on the BTS during rush hour than you do actual analog watches. They're basically the default smartwatch here, even street food vendors using them for Grab payments. The bigger concern isn't the watch itself but where you take it off, like the changing room at a public pool or leaving it on the counter at a 7-Eleven while you pay. If you're really trying to blend in, swap the band for a nylon velcro one and nobody will even glance twice.

youll be fine, i wear mine everywhere in bangkok and nobody bats an eye. if anything the locals are more likely to notice a galaxy watch or a fitbit since apple is so common here. just keep it on your wrist and dont leave it lying around at a bar on khao san or something

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
