Hotels in Bangkok airport?

I have an 11 hour layover overnight in Bangkok, (Phuket > Bangkok > Katmandu), and was wanting to sleep in the airport overnight. What Hotels in the airport are good and any advice? honestly skip the airport hotels unless you really need a shower. there's a Novotel right at Suvarnabhumi, walkable from the terminal, but it's pricey for what it is. if you're on a budget, the Louis' Tavern Dayrooms inside the airport are a solid middle ground, you pay by the hour and they're quiet.

for an overnight sleep, the airport itself is actually fine. gate areas on the third floor have those reclining seats near the F concourse, but they fill up fast. if you can't get one, the quiet zone near the Miracle Lounge on the other side is less crowded. bring a hoodie and eye mask, the AC is freezing.

also, immigration is open 24/7, so if you're transiting and your bags are checked through, stay airside. going through security again at 4am sucks, trust me. if you do go landside, the Novotel is your best bet, but book ahead or you'll be paying walk-in rates that hurt.

ngl the Avagard Capsule tip is good but if ur gonna sleep landside, take a Grab to the Novotel's sister property, the IBIS Bangkok Sukhumvit 24. it's like 15 min from the airport, around 2,000 baht, and u get a proper bed plus a pool. the shuttle from the airport runs every 20 min to that area too, so u wont be stranded.

for the airside route, the real hack is the Thai massage place near the Miracle Lounge, not the one by gate D. theyre open 24hrs, a 1hr foot massage is like 400 baht, and u can nap in the recliner after. way better than fighting for the F concourse seats. just ask for the quiet corner, they know what's up.

also, if ur transiting, theres a tiny smoking room near gate C that doubles as a nap spot. it's got those weird plastic loungers and its dead quiet after midnight. not glamorous but it beats the floor. just set ur phone alarm for 90 min max, the AC there is brutal.

The Novotel at Suvarnabhumi is the only true airport hotel, connected by a sky bridge, but the walk-in rates can sting. If you're okay with a short ride, the Great Residence Suvarnabhumi is a solid budget pick, they run a 24/7 shuttle and rooms are clean, around 1,200 to 1,500 baht a night. For 11 hours, I'd actually book that over the Novotel, you get a real bed and a shower without paying triple.

One thing people miss: if you're flying Thai Airways or Bangkok Airways, check if they offer transit hotel vouchers for long layovers. It's not advertised, but they sometimes have deals with nearby hotels. Also, the free Wi-Fi at the airport drops you off every hour, so download your shows before you land.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
