While Airbnb is an option, I'd prefer to avoid the high fees and find alternative ways to rent an apartment for just one month.

Has anyone here had experience finding short-term rentals in Bangkok? Are there specific agencies or platforms that cater to this? Or do you have any tips on how to connect directly with landlords?

Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're willing to go a bit outside the usual expat zones, try looking on Thai-language Facebook groups or Pantip marketplace. You'll see posts offering "rent monthly" on condos in areas like On Nut or Bang Na for 8,000-12,000 baht, which is often half what you'd pay through an agent. The catch is you usually need a Thai friend to help translate and negotiate, since most owners don't speak English. I've done this twice and both times the landlord was fine with a cash deposit and no contract beyond a simple receipt.

yeah totally possible, just dont expect to find them on the typical rental sites like hipflat or ddproperty which are mostly 12-month contracts. the key is looking for "serviced apartments" or "monthly condos" on facebook groups, especially ones dedicated to expats in bangkok. there's a huge one called "Bangkok Expats" that's prob the most active

honestly the best deals come from walking into a building and talking to the juristic office directly, they often know which owners are flexible. for example in sukhumvit, buildings like the Base or The Line have tons of units rented month-to-month. expect to pay a premium though, maybe 20-30% more than a yearly lease, but still way cheaper than airbnb fees

another option is using renthub or mrroomfinder, they have a filter for "monthly" contracts. just be ready to haggle a bit, landlords are used to long term so you gotta sell yourself as a clean, quiet tenant who wont cause trouble. also bring cash for the deposit, many wont do credit cards

tbh you could also try the "rental by owner" section on Kaidee or even Facebook Marketplace. set the filter to "monthly" and you'll see listings from regular people, not agencies. just be aware that some of those posts are scams, so never pay anything before seeing the place in person

another thing nobody mentioned yet - some co-living spaces like Hive or Aspire in Thong Lo will do monthly stays without the Airbnb markup. you get a private room and share common areas, but it's way easier to move around since they have multiple locations. last I checked a month at Hive was around 15k baht for a decent room

if you're really trying to save, look at the older buildings in areas like Ari or Saphan Khwai. the condos from the 90s are uglier but the owners are more flexible with terms. I stayed in one near Saphan Khwai BTS for 9k a month, just walked in and asked the guard who to call

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
