if you're near khaosan rd you can just walk to the procession route, most of ratchadamnoen klang will be blocked off from late morning. the parade itself moves slow so you can catch it from multiple spots along the avenue, i'd recommend the stretch near democracy monument cause the crowd thins out a bit there. bring water and a hat, it gets hot standing around for an hour or two
phra pin klao bridge area gets a solid view too, less touristy than the main route. the procession crosses over around 2pm so you can watch from the sidewalk on the bangkok side before it heads to sanam luang. grab a cold drink from one of the carts on the corner before you settle in, the sun beats down hard on that stretch
usually starts around 1pm from the grand palace heading towards wat phra kaew and they close ratchadamnoen klang from like 10am. if u want a good spot without the crush try the corner of rachinee rd near the royal hotel, less packed but still a clear view. the whole thing wraps up by 5 or 6 so grab some khao man gai at pratunam after

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
