Are there any junkyards or junk shops where I can buy scrap tire rubber?

Looking to buy scrap and damaged in bulk, specifically the inner tubing from bicycle or motorcycle/motorbike/scooter tires. Any help is appreciated. Looking to buy scrap and damaged in bulk, specifically the inner tubing from bicycle or motorcycle/motorbike/scooter tires. Any help is appreciated.

The moto graveyards behind Wat Chong Lom in Samut Sakhon are worth the drive if you're buying real volume. Guys there strip bikes all day and tubes get tossed into a big pile, I've seen them sell by the sack, maybe 100 to 150 baht if u bring your own bag. It's a bit of a haul from central BKK but way cheaper than anything in the city.

Try the tire repair shops clustered around Khlong Thom market on Maha Chai Road, they go through tubes constantly and usually just pile them up out back. A lot of the moto shops in that area will hand you a sack for a couple hundred baht if you ask, or point you to the guy who collects from them.

For actual bulk, head out to the recyling yards in Bang Khen or along Phetkasem toward Om Noi. Those places buy scrap rubber by the kilo and will resell, though you might need someone who speaks Thai to negotiate. Bring cash and don't expect receipts.

Worth checking the rubber plantations out toward Nakhon Pathom too, some of the smallholders collect old tubes to patch irrigation lines and will offload sacks cheap. Also keep an eye on Facebook Marketplace and the Thai-language group "ซื้อขายยางเก่า", sellers there move tubes by the ton and you can usually arrange a meetup at a weigh station.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
