One night in city. Nana Plaza or Soi Cowboy for fun with girls?

ngl for a one nighter i'd actually say it depends on what u want out of it. nana plaza feels like a mall of sin, u can close the deal fast but it's easy to get overwhelmed and end up in some random bar u don't even like. soi cowboy is more of a street party, people spilling out, music bleeding together, easier to just vibe and see who catches ur eye.

my hidden gem on cowboy is tilac, it's got that proper old-school go-go feel, girls actually dance instead of just standing around looking bored. on nana side i'd say check out the second floor spots like lollipop, less touristy than the ground level and the girls are chiller about negotiating. avoid the ones with the big neon signs and the guys shouting "pussy pussy" at u, that's just the commission hunters.

big tip: bring ur own condoms. the ones they sell at the bars are sketchy and overpriced, and if u get a girl to go with u to a short-time hotel nearby, the room fee is like 300 baht but they'll try to charge u 500 if u look drunk. keep it simple, pay the bar fine, take her to a hotel u pick, not one the mamasan recommends.

if u only got one night i'd say nana plaza just for the sheer density, three floors of options means u never walk more than 30 seconds between bars. but the real move is to start at the rooftop bar on the top floor, get a view of the whole courtyard, then work ur way down floor by floor. the ground level is pure chaos, full of guys who've already had too many, so skip it.

my favorite spot that nobody mentions is the butterfly bar on the second floor, it's got this weird jungle theme and the girls are way less scripted than the big names. also the beer garden in the middle of nana is underrated for scoping out who's actually available before u commit to a bar. grab a chang there, watch the crowd, then pick ur target.

one thing tho, if u go to cowboy instead, the bars close earlier around 1am whereas nana runs later, so if u're a night owl that decides for u. either way don't pay the first mamasan who approaches u, walk the full circuit first, prices vary by like 200 baht between bars for the same thing.

for one night i'd actually split it, start at cowboy around 9 before it gets packed, hit baccara for the view then cross to tilac for the real dancing. then cab to nana around midnight when cowboy's dying down, the third floor there has these tiny bars where girls actually sit with u instead of the stage show, way better for sealing the deal.

skip the street vendors right outside both, they'll charge u triple for water and the condoms are expired. there's a 7-eleven on sukhumvit soi 4 that's open all night, grab supplies there. also if u're at nana, the rooftop beer garden is the move for scoping, u can see which bars actually have girls vs just empty stages from above.

one thing nobody said yet, the lady drinks at cowboy are like 180 baht but at nana they'll hit u 250 on the top floors. check the menu before u order, some places sneak it in. and if a girl says she's "from isaan" that's code for she's gonna negotiate hard, be patient or move on.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
