Hi,

I'm looking for the best places to buy CDs of Thai music (mostly high selling artists like Bird, Loso, etc), used or new is fine

Places in mind currently:

Fortune Town. Hall of Fame Records, will need to find more CD vendors

MBK, definitely has some CD vendors

Chatuchak, definitely has CD vendors but should know which areas before going

Whatever "CD store" on google maps got

Lazada & Shopee vendors, probably most convenient

Where else should I go to for CDs?

Thanks

honestly you're prob overthinking this. for thai pop like bird and loso, the best selection i've found is actually at the cd shops inside the big c on ratchadamri. there's a small booth near the food court entrance on the 4th floor that has stacks of used cds for like 30-50 baht each, mostly thai stuff. they don't show up on google maps at all.

another spot that no one mentions is the basement of central world near the bts skywalk entrance. there's a tiny stall run by an older lady who's been there for years. she has a lot of bird, loso, and even some older carabao albums. prices are fair, around 60-80 baht for used ones.

for online, i'd skip lazada and go straight to facebook marketplace instead. search "แผ่นซีดี" and filter by location. there's a group called "ตลาดแผ่นซีดีมือสอง" with like 50k members. tons of people selling their old collections for cheap, way better than shopee vendors who mark stuff up.

Hall of Fame at Fortune Town is good but their prices have crept up over the years. For used Thai pop, try the second floor of the Old Siam Plaza by the charcoal grilled sausage stall, there's a guy who's been selling there for twenty years and still has original pressings of early Bird and Micro albums for 60 baht each. The weekend market vendors in section 24 near the back wall are more rock and indie focused but sometimes have LOSO if you dig deep.

I'd throw in a look at the CD shops in the Pantip Plaza basement, they're mostly forgotten now but still have stacks of used Thai pop mixed in with old computer stuff. Also, if you're on Lazada already, try searching for "แผ่นซีดีมือสอง" (used CDs) and filter by shops in Bangkok, you'll find a bunch of small sellers with good stock.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
