BAIB mani and pedi in Bangkok?

honestly the BAIB kits are sold at Beauty Plus on the 4th floor of Terminal 21, so if you find a tech who's willing but untrained you can just bring your own kit and they'll usually knock 200 or so off the price. i did that at a small shop in the Soi 19 side of Asok, forget teh name but it's next to a 7-Eleven. worth asking around your soi first before trekking to Phrom Phong

if u dont mind hopping one stop, the little thai-owned shops around udom suk soi 8 to 12 are where i'd look. they dont advertise BAIB but a couple of the techs trained in tokyo and keep the base gel in a mini fridge behind the counter, u just have to ask in thai or point at ur nails. runs about 700 to 900 which beats the phrom phong markup, and the soi is way less of a zoo than terminal 21 on a weekend. message me if u want the one i use, its above a laundry near the mouth of soi 10

The issue with BAIB in Asok is most of the walk-in shops on Sukhumvit Soi 19 to 21 are set up for speed, not for a two-hour structured overlay, so they'll quote you 500 baht and rush it. If your nails are already BAIB and you just need a fill or removal, that's a different job than a fresh set and you should say so upfront, otherwise they treat it like gel and damage the plate. I'd check the Japanese salons tucked inside the malls around Phrom Phong BTS, the ones on the upper floors of EmQuartier and the small spots in Soi 24, they usually stock the right base and know the cure times. Bring your own kit from Beauty Plus if you're picky, but call ahead and ask if the tech has done BAIB before you book, saves you a wasted trip.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
