Thanks

try the sports bar at the r embrandt hotel on suk 20, they've got a proper projector setup and usually keep the sound on for the whole race. the food is decent but skip the pizza, go for the pad thai instead. they close at midnight so no rush, just bring cash since their card machine acts up sometimes

The race is the Singapore GP so it's a night race, which actually works in your favor timing-wise here. Places like The Sportsman in Soi 13 and The Pickled Liver on Surawong will have it on with the sound up, they just can't serve beer. You can still get food and soft drinks no problem. If you want a proper setup with big screens, try the Sports Bar at the Landmark Hotel on Sukhumvit, they do a decent mocktail and won't be pushing you out early since the race ends around 11.

honestly you're fine, most places will still show it with no booze. The Roadhouse on Sukhumvit soi 45 is a solid bet, they do big screens and decent burgers, and the staff are good about keeping the sound up for the whole race since it's not that late

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
