How do I get from Airport to Nana?

I'm not sure where to go but I think I take the Airport Rail Link to Makkasan, transfer to Blue line at Phetchaburi. Transfer to Green Line BTS at Sukhumvit then proceed to Nana Plaza, Soi 4

Can anyone with experience tell me if this is the best route or if there is a more efficient route?

if you're set on trains, the phaya thai transfer is def the smoothest - just follow the signs and you'll be on the bts in like 2 mins. but ngl, for a first timer with luggage, grab a taxi from the official stand downstairs. the queue moves fast and you get a receipt with a number if you leave anything behind. just tell them "sukhumvit soi 5" and point to the meter, they'll know where nana is.

one thing no one mentioned - your hotel might have an airport pickup service. check with them, sometimes it's only a couple hundred baht more than a taxi and they'll be waiting with a sign right outside arrivals. saves you dealing with the taxi queue after a long flight.

also if you do take the bts, grab a rabbit card at the counter. the ticket machines only take coins and it's a pain hunting for change with jetlag. you can top up at any 7-eleven too.

Your route works but you're making it harder than it needs to be. Take the Airport Rail Link all the way to Phaya Thai, then just walk across the platform to the BTS Sukhumvit line and ride to Nana station. That's one transfer instead of two, and the walk from Phaya Thai to the BTS is maybe 50 meters with escalators.

Your hotel on Soi 5 is actually closer to Asok BTS than Nana BTS, about a 5 minute walk. If you get off at Nana, you'll walk past the plaza on Soi 4 and cut through the little soi connecting to Soi 5, which is fine but adds a few minutes.

One thing nobody mentioned yet is that if your flight lands between 5-8pm, the Airport Rail Link gets packed with commuters and you'll be standing with luggage. Taxi might be worth it then. Also the airport taxi queue at Suvarnabhumi is well organized with a ticket system, so you won't get scammed on the meter.

the route you mapped works but theres a shorter way if you dont mind walking a bit. take the airport rail link all the way to phaya thai like someone said, then transfer to bts there. get off at nana station and your hotel on soi 5 is actually a 5 min walk from the station exit, just go down soi 4 past the plaza and cut through the little soi to soi 5

the makkasan transfer is fine too but that blue line station is a bit of a maze underground and youll be hauling bags through a long tunnel. phaya thai transfer is just walking across a platform pretty much

also worth knowing the airport rail link runs every 10-15 mins but stops at like midnight so if your flight lands late you're stuck with a taxi anyway. grab a rabbit card at phaya thai bts if you plan to use the train more while youre here, saves fumbling with cash

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
