Any house dancers in Bangkok?

Ive contacted all the dance schools I could find in Bangkok but none of them do House dancing. Ive contacted all the dance schools I could find in Bangkok but none of them do House dancing.

u could try looking outside the school scene entirely, like at the uni clubs. chula and thammasat have dance societies that are more open to freestyle stuff than the commercial studios, and they sometimes host open jams where house tracks get thrown in. i remember a guy named Ton from chula's crew who used to run a monthly thing at a community hall near on nut, it was never posted online, just passed around on line group chats. also check the jam at the emsphere public area on some friday nights, it's mostly kpop cover kids but there's a handful of older dancers who show up and do their own thing on the side, one of them, a dude in his 40s named Lek, he's been dancing house since the 90s and he's always down to teach a few steps if u just watch him first. that's honestly how i found my people, just showing up and being patient

there's a guy named Poom who teaches at Vibes dance studio, mostly hip hop but he grew up on house and sometimes sneaks it into warm-ups. if u catch him after class he'll chat forever about the history, he knows the oldheads in the city who used to run warehouse parties back in the 2000s. also check the Bangkok House Dance Facebook group, it's quiet but every few months someone posts a cypher at a random rooftop or a carpark, that's where it actually happens.

the underground is where it lives, no doubt. but if you wanna train proper, try the free jam at Benjasiri Park on saturday mornings, it's mostly b-boys but a couple of the older heads there came up on house in the 90s and they'll share footwork if you ask nice. also hit up the crew at A-Spirit, they're a waacking group but their open classes on thursdays pull in a mixed crowd, and I've seen house tracks snuck into the warm-up there. one of their regulars, a guy named Jay, runs a tiny monthly thing at a soi off Ekkamai, no flyers, just word of mouth, he posts the location on his IG story the day of. go say hi, tell him the girl from the park sent you, he'll let you in.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
