Does anyone have any experience using Rent Hub? The rates seem better than other sites but they charge for utilities and ask for a deposit.

Any help is greatly appreciated, cheers.

tbh i'd skip rent hub for a few weeks. their deposit refund takes like 2 to 3 weeks after move out, which is annoying if ur flying home. check out the honey suite or the dormitory on sukhumvit 26, they do weekly rates and the wifi is actually decent. also, if u do go rent hub, ask for the building's actual utility bill, some of them tack on a 20% handling fee which is pure bs. facebook marketplace is hit or miss but worth 15 min of scrolling, lots of thai owners list there with no agency in between

Rent Hub is legit, they've been around for a while in Bangkok. I'd just be careful about the utility rates they charge, some condos around Thong Lo or Phrom Phong have inflated water and electricity fees through these agencies. If you're staying a few weeks, you might also check the Furnished Apartments group on Facebook, a lot of owners post directly there and skip the agency deposit nonsense.

The deposit thing is standard for any monthly rental here, so that part is normal. The utility charge is where they get you, so ask for the exact rate per unit before you sign anything, and make sure it's in the contract. For a few weeks, you might also look at the serviced apartments around Sukhumvit 24, like the Ascott or Somerset, they do weekly rates and the bills are bundled into one price, no surprises. I've had friends use Rent Hub for six month leases and it was fine, but for short stays the management fees eat into the savings you think you're getting.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
