Best doctors for knee injuries in Bangkok? please Help‼️

Any and all suggestions and input is really appreciated

check out the sports medicine clinic at bumrungrad, but skip the main hospital chaos and go to their sports science center on the 5th floor. dr. sarawut there is the one who works with the thai national badminton team, he's big on patellar tracking and will tape your knee right in the consult so you can feel the difference before you even book a scan. it's pricier, around 4,000 baht for the first visit, but you can get a same-day mri if you ask nicely, and that's worth it if you're only in town for a week.

also, since it's been happening repeatedly, think about seeing a physio who specializes in the lower chain, not just the doc. i know a guy at the physio room on sukhumvit soi 39, khun pong, he does a lot of work with runners and jumpers, he'll check your foot arch and hip strength before touching the knee. he charges like 1,200 baht an hour and he's booked out a few days ahead, so message him on line before you fly in.

one thing to keep in mind is the heat. bangkok humidity messes with swelling, so bring a compression sleeve and ice packs, and don't walk too much the first day. the doctors will tell you to rest, but they don't always warn you about the stairs in the bts stations, those are killer

if u want someone who really gets the athlete side of things, check out bnh hospital on sathorn. dr. prinya there is a former team doc for the thai national football squad, so he's seen a lot of patellar issues on the field. he's big on physio and bracing first, surgery only if it's truly wrecked. bnh is private so it's pricier than samitivej maybe, but the consult fee is around 2,500-3,000 baht and they have english-speaking staff that actually explain things without rushing you.

another option is to hit up the sports science clinic at mahidol university, they do gait analysis and biomechanics stuff that most hospitals skip. it's not a typical hospital vibe, more of a lab, but if ur subluxation keeps coming back, that's where they'll find the root cause in ur hip or ankle. u can book online, and it's way cheaper than the big private places, like 1,500 baht for an assessment. bring any old mri images, but they'll prob want to redo the scans anyway since they look at movement not just the static picture.

one thing nobody mentions is to check if the doctor does dry needling or kinesio taping in-house. some of the older orthos just hand u a pamphlet and send u to a pt down the road, which is annoying when u're traveling. ask for dr.

try bhumibol adulyadej hospital, they have a solid sports med unit and see a lot of athletes. dr. tanawat at the knee clinic there is pretty known for patellar stuff, he does the whole rehab-first approach before any surgery talk. also check samitivej sukumvit, their ortho dept is more expensive but they do have good mri tech and english speaking staff if that matters. tbh for recurring subluxation you really want someone who'll look at your whole leg mechanics, not just the knee, so ask about patellar tracking and taping during the consult. if you're on a budget, the government hospitals like siriraj are fine too but wait times can be brutal, bring your old scans if u have them.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
