Any other recommendations for reliable and hassle free car rental booking? Not looking for the cheapest but reasonable value a consideration too. I'd prefer use a well known service with a good track record.

if u want well known & reliable, Avis at suvarnabhumi is solid - they have a direct counter near gate 3 and the cars are well maintained. i've rented from their Sathorn branch too and pickup was faster than the airport. just avoid the ones near Khao San, they tend to upsell insurance hard. for value, Thai Rent a Car is local but legit, they use newer Toyotas and include basic insurance without the markup

honestly skip the big international chains if you want less hassle. try Chic Car Rent or Avis at Suvarnabhumi, they have a desk right outside arrivals and the staff speak decent english. i've used Hertz before and they're fine but their return process at the airport can be slow if there's a line. for local options, Budget is actually pretty solid too, their rates are usually a bit lower than Hertz and the cars are just as new. just make sure u check the car for scratches before driving off, take photos with your phone, that'll save u drama later

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
