Day 1: Iconsiam then dinner at vertigo rooftop bar (it looks very pricey so possibly just drinks).

Day 2: Wat Arun, Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha, Emerald Buddha, Wat Intharawihan, visit Khoasan Road, Dinner in chinatown.

Day 3: Lumphimi Park & Siam Square, check out Tichuca rooftop bar.

Day 4: River boat tour along canals on East Side I.e. Wat Paknam, artists House. Dinner on river front.

Day 5: Chatachuck market & grab Dinner there.

Day 6: Tour China town & few temples around.

Thanks, any suggestions would be appreciated!

honestly day 2 is gonna wreck you both, that's like 6 temples plus khaosan in one go. the grand palace alone is a solid 2 hours in that heat and your mom will be done by wat pho. i'd cut wat intharawihan entirely and maybe swap khaosan for a late afternoon at a cafe on soi rambuttri instead, cooler and less chaos.

for day 3, lumphini is nice but it's mostly a walking loop and monitor lizards, not a whole day thing. siam square is fine but your mom might like the malls better, centralworld has a good food court on the 6th floor and it's air conditioned. tichuca is fun but if she doesn't like crowds it might be a lot, the queue is real.

chatuchak on day 5 is smart but it's a maze and gets hot by 11am. go early, like 8am, grab a coconut ice cream at the section near gate 2, and be out by noon. your mom will appreciate the break before dinner since the market is huge and there's no shade.

day 6 in chinatown is perfect for a slow day, don't miss the small soi off yaowarat road like soi mangkon for the old shophouses and a good bowl of kuay jab.

Your mother in her 60s will do fine with this, but Day 2 is a lot of walking and temple stairs. The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew alone can take 3 hours in the heat, and Wat Intharawihan is a solid 20 minute tuk-tuk ride north of the others. I'd swap that one out for Wat Pho (the Reclining Buddha is there, not a separate stop) and skip Intharawihan unless you really want to see the giant standing Buddha. Khao San Road is fine for a quick walk-through but don't expect much before 5pm, it's dead in the afternoon.

For Day 4, the canal boat tours on the Bangkok Noi side are better than the east side if you want to see the Artists House. The east side canal tours are mostly just long-tail boats speeding through big canals, not the narrow khlongs with stilt houses. Take the orange flag express boat to Thonburi and you can walk to the Artists House from there, it's a much nicer route.

Tichucha on Day 3 has a 40 minute wait minimum even on weeknights. For a similar vibe with less queue, try Octave Rooftop at the Marriott Sukhumvit 57, it's quieter and the view is just as good. Your mother will appreciate the seats.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
