Today at around 11am there was really loud music at ratchadaphisek road near Talat Phlu station anyone know what that was about?

11am on a weekday is odd for a funeral, those usually happen earlier or later in the day. More likely it was the school on Ratchadaphisek Soi 10 having their sports day or some event, they blast music from the field during morning assemblies and activities. If you were near the Talat Phlu BTS stairs, the sound bounces off the highway overpass and makes it seem louder than it is.

could be a wat near talat phlu having a festival, they crank the speakers during daytime events. the chinese shrine on rat burana road does that too sometimes if you're further south. i'd check around soi 12 next time, the open lot there hosts random stuff

the talat phlu area gets random temple parades even on weekdays tbh, not just funerals. wat phai rong wua on ratchadaphisek soi 17 does these merit-making processions with loudspeaker trucks around 10-11am sometimes. next time check if the music had a repetitive chanting loop, that's the giveaway.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
