Would people start splashing on Friday (April 12th) or is it only Sat / Sun for the most part? And is the splashing mostly in the afternoon so mornings and nights are safe?

for silom specifically, the real chaos starts saturday april 13th around noon and goes til maybe 8pm. friday the 12th is technically the first day but it's quieter, mostly kids and random groups near the bts stations. mornings are usually fine to walk around before 10am, same with after 9pm if you stick to the main roads. if you need to get anything done, do it before 11am or after sunset, just avoid the stretch from sala daeng to chong nonsi during peak hours.

Silom gets going around midday on the 13th for sure, but you'll see some early splashing on the 12th near the BTS exits and small sois. If you're planning to use the skytrain or walk along Silom road, just accept you'll get wet from like 11am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. Mornings before 10 are totally fine for errands, same with late nights after 9 or 10 depending on how rowdy your street gets.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
