Can't Li-Kay play in English?

I am not a big fan of Li-Kay since I grow up but I think this is a good idea to promote the country like if you want to see Sakura or use an Onsen you have to go to Japan which boost their economy, so if we use Li-Kay as a selling point I think it would be great

You're right that Li-Kay's wordplay is deeply tied to Thai, but some troupes in places like Wang Lang market have started adding English subtitles on screens during performances. It is not the same as a full English script, but it helps foreigners catch the timing of the jokes. The real hurdle is that Li-Kay relies on improvisation and rhyming in Thai, so translating it literally would kill the rhythm and humor that make it fun to watch.

ngl li-kay in english would be tough because the whole thing is built on puns and rhyme schemes that just don't work in translation. but there are a few troupes around khao san that do shorter english-friendly shows with more physical comedy and slapstick, so the language barrier matters less. might be worth checking out if you want to see how they adapt it

I've seen some Li-Kay troupes do short English intros before shows, but full English versions would lose a lot of the wordplay and jokes.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
