What is your income & cost of living?

arrow_drop_up 2506 arrow_drop_down

i'm a teacher here on 55k and it's fine. 15k for a studio in ekkamai but it's small, no pool. food is cheap if u eat at the street stalls, like 50 baht for a whole meal. biggest shock was utilities, they add up if u blast the ac all night like i do

arrow_drop_up 9 arrow_drop_down

imo 60k-70k is the sweet spot for a single person who wants to eat out a few times a week and not stress about bills. i pay 18k for a studio on sukhumvit 39, another 3k for utilities and internet, and prob 12k on food if i hit up the food courts and the occasional nicer spot. the hidden cost is transport, grab rides add up fast if you're not near a bts

i'm on about 45k baht a month as a graphic designer and it works fine for me. rent's 6k for a room in a shared house near udom suk, which is a bit far but the BTS is right there. my biggest expense is actually electricity in summer, like 1.5k baht just for AC, so keep that in mind if u pick a place with old units. street food saves me a ton, i spend maybe 2k on groceries and 3k on eating out, the rest on social stuff and random grab rides

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
