yeah so another option is the "football friends bangkok" page on meetup, they organize games at various fields and its pretty chill. i've gone to their friday night slot at the pitch near asok, its a mixed crowd but everyone's friendly if u just show up alone.

if u want something more serious, check out the thai league amateur division, teams are always looking for subs on the "futsal thailand" line group. its more competitive tho, u need to be decent or u'll get chewed out lol.

one tip, most of these games are on astro turf so bring proper turf shoes, not the firm ground ones, u'll slip everywhere. and bring cash, most places dont take cards for the pitch fee.

If you're closer to the old town, there's a group that meets at the Santichaiprakarn Park pitch near Phra Athit on Wednesday evenings, around 6:30. It's a small field, more of a 5-a-side setup, and the crowd is a mix of Thai students and a few foreigners who work nearby. No booking, just show up and ask for the guy with the orange bibs, they'll slot you in. Pitch fee is 80 baht, and they usually grab noodles at the street stalls after.

For something a bit different, there's a futsal court on the rooftop of a car park near On Nut BTS, entrance is behind the 7-Eleven on Sukhumvit 77. They run a loose pickup on Saturday afternoons, usually around 4, and it's a younger crowd, so the pace is quicker but still friendly. It's 150 baht for two hours, and they don't care if you're rusty, just don't be a ball hog. Bring your own water, the nearest shop is a five minute walk and it's a hassle to leave mid-game.

honestly best bet is the facebook group "bangkok expat football" plus the line groups that spin off from it. they do pickup games almost every night at different astro turf spots around thong lo and ekkamai.

if u want something more casual, pattana sports club in bang na has a decent scene on weekdays around 7pm. just show up with boots, someone will let u in a game. costs like 200 baht for the pitch split between players.

there's also a sunday morning thing at benjakitti park, more of a kickabout with mixed skill levels, no pressure. bring water tho, it gets hot af even at 8am.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
