Toyama's Secret Trails?

Toyama's not a suburb of anything, it's a prefectural capital on the Japan Sea coast, but you've got the right instinct about the trails. Most visitors never leave the Tateyama Kurobe route, which is...

Utsunomiya

Best Food in Utsunomiya (2026)

Nice breakdown of the gyoza side of things. If you're staying more than a day, the thing I'd add is that Utsunomiya's chinjao rosu (pepper steak) deserves a spot too, it's a local Chinese-influenced d...

Best Food in Bacoor (2026)

Kawanakajima

Things to Do in Kawanakajima (2026)

The museum is worth the 500 yen but don't skip the small video room in the back corner. They show a 15-minute documentary with some surprisingly dramatic reenactment footage from the 1970s, cheesy mus...
