fwiw the vintage market at Srinagarindra Train Night Market has a couple stalls selling vintage penny loafers from japanese importers. theyre usually around 600-900 baht and the leathers already broken in so no blisters. just check the soles for uneven wear before buying, some of em have been walked through a lot of bangkok rain

Platipus on Sathorn Soi 12 is a hidden spot most people don't know about. They carry a small selection of men's leather loafers from local brands like Sudo, usually around 1,500 baht and the leather is proper full grain. The owner sources from the same factories as some of the pricier Japanese brands so you're getting good value. They're open Tuesday to Saturday, close at 6 so don't show up late.

if you're near sukhumvit, try the little leather shops in Terminal 21's basement level, they've got penny loafers for around 1,000 baht and the leather holds up better than chatuchak imo. there's also a place called Siam Leather on Charoen Krung Road, it's a bit out of the way but they do custom sizing for roughly the same price, takes about a week. just make sure you try them on in the afternoon when your feet are a bit swollen, that's when you'll get the real fit

christine · Answer

honestly check out the weekend market at Chatuchak, there's a section with decent leather stalls that have loafers for like 500-800 baht. the quality varies so look for the ones with real leather lining not just the outside. if you want something a step up but still cheap, head to MBK Center on the 4th floor, there's a few shops that import from India and they're usually around 1,200 baht. just haggle a bit at both places, it's expected

swantje · Answer

There's a shop on the ground floor of Siam Square called Leather Factory Outlet that's easy to miss. Their penny loafers are around 900 baht and they let you swap the insoles for better ones if the originals feel thin.
