Any luck with a local equivalent to bar keepers friend for cleaning steel kitchenware?

Question

I brought some with me years ago and just ran out.

fwiw i've been using "magiclean" from the cleaning aisle at Don Quijote, it's a gel that works pretty well on my carbon steel wok and stainless pots. not exactly the same as bar keepers friend but it cuts through the burnt on stuff without too much elbow grease. i think it's around 500 yen for a tube and lasts a while

honestly just hit up any Daiso or Seria, they have this pink powder called "kirei kirei" or look for "homes" brand stainless cleaner. the 100 yen shops carry a lot of the same stuff just under local names. i found a cream cleaner called "jif" at the supermarket that works fine for my pans too, similar texture and grit level.

isedore · Answer

yeah the pink powder at daiso is good but if you want something closer to the original bar keepers friend texture, try "kurehero" from home centers like viva home or nafco. it's a japanese brand that does similar oxalic acid based polish

sannaulmer · Answer

You can try "sunpole" brand stainless cleaner, it comes in a spray bottle and works on kitchen sinks and pots without scratching.
