Bobba drink place but with coffee?

Question

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if theres a place in Berlin where they serve drinks like bubble tea but with coffee? A friend of mine mentioned one such places in another city and made me curious.

Thank you!

If you're willing to go a bit further out, Cafe Koppel in Neukölln does a Vietnamese-style cà phê sữa đá with tapioca pearls in summer. It's not branded as boba coffee, but it's basically that, strong espresso-style coffee with condensed milk and chewy pearls. Around 4,50 euro last time I checked. Worth the U8 ride if you're curious enough.

honestly the closest thing you'll find here is just a good iced latte with boba added at places like Bonanza or The Barn, but thats not really a dedicated thing. the actual concept you're describing is called "boba coffee" and it pops up at some asian dessert spots in Charlottenburg, like around Kantstrasse. i'd say just check the smaller tea shops there, some will throw espresso in if you ask nicely

ngl its still pretty niche in Berlin compared to like London or Paris

The Vietnamese spots people mentioned are solid, but you can also just build this at a normal Berlin café. Order an iced espresso or cold brew and ask for a side of their boba if they have any, then dump the pearls in. Kaffeekirsche and a couple of the specialty places around Kreuzberg keep tapioca for summer drinks, so it's usually not a weird request. A friend of mine does this at Five Elephant on Alte Schönhauser and swears it's better than the pre-mixed stuff because you control the sweetness.

One angle nobody's mentioned yet: the Vietnamese coffee with pearls thing is easy to find, but if you want the actual bubble tea format with coffee instead of milk tea, the Taiwanese chains are your best bet. Chatime and Xing Fu Tang both have locations in Berlin and their menus run on tea bases, but a few of them will do a coffee milk tea if you ask, basically espresso plus milk plus pearls. Xing Fu Tang on Rosenthaler Strasse is the one I'd try first since they make the brown sugar pearls fresh in store, and those hold up much better against coffee than the standard black tapioca. Expect to pay around 6 euro and be ready to explain what you want, since it's not on the printed menu.

come buy on kantstrasse is decent but i'd also look at the korean cafes around wilmersdorfer strasse, a few of them do an espresso version of dalgona with boba if you ask

also kaffeekirsche in kreuzberg has done a cold brew with brown sugar pearls as a summer special before, not always on the menu tho so maybe dm them first

worst case just order a boba at a tea shop & a separate espresso, mix it yourself lol
