Huangshicheng's Secret?

Question

I finally made it to Huangshicheng, after battling through the insane crowds near the entrance. The sheer scale of the place is breathtaking... I mean, seriously. Pictures don't do it justice. I spent hours wandering the walls, imagining the emperors and their court. But, here's the thing: I couldn't find a single decent noodle stall anywhere near the castle itself. All the vendors seemed to be clustered way outside. Is there some hidden gem, a secret noodle spot known only to the locals, within the castle walls or very close by, that I missed? I swear I searched everywhere! Seriously considering going back tomorrow just for the noodles.

ngl you picked the wrong direction from the castle, everyone heads left but the real move is going right out the east gate toward Donghuamen night market. there's a guy who sets up a cart right where the hutong meets the main road around 5pm, he does this insane hand-pulled biangbiang noodles with chili oil that'll ruin you for any other noodles in Beijing. it's like 12 kuai and he's been there for years, no sign just a red lantern and a queue of locals

honestly, you're not gonna find anything inside the actual Huangshicheng walls themselves, the whole place is a historical site so they keep the food vendors way back by the ticketing area. but if you walk out the main gate and head left toward Nanchizi Street, there's a little hutong about 5 minutes down with a place called Lao Beijing Zhajiangmian Wang that does handmade noodles in a tiny courtyard. their zhajiangmian is solid and it's like 18 kuai a bowl, way better than the tourist traps near the entrance.
