I would like to attend one of their shows on either May 17th or 18th. As someone traveling from abroad, what is the best way to obtain tickets for this event?

The resale side is where most foreigners get stuck. If the show sells out on the official channels, your fallback is Xianyu, the secondhand app, but you'll need someone with a Chinese ID and Alipay to buy on your behalf, and paper tickets for big arena shows often get checked against the buyer's name at the gate. Real-name entry is standard now for anything at Wukesong or the Workers' Stadium, so a ticket bought off a stranger may simply not scan for you. Ask the seller directly whether the ticket is transferable and whether they can walk in with you, that's usually the only workable arrangement.

damai is the obvious one but worth checking the band's own site or instagram first, some foreign acts sell a presale allocation through their own links before damai even opens. also 247tickets and mypiao do english checkout if you dont want to deal with the app, prices are a bit higher though. one thing people miss, mid may often lands on a 520 event weekend so shows sell out faster, if u see the listing just grab it.

honestly if you're only here for a few days the timing is tight, most official sales open weeks or months ahead and foreign cards often get declined on Chinese platforms. try asking the band's weibo or their China promoter (look up the tour poster, there's usually a local promoter name at the bottom) and email them directly, they sometimes hold a small will-call batch for overseas fans. also check if it's at a livehouse vs arena, smaller venues like Yugong Yishan or Tango often just sell at the door on the night.

olympic forest park is slept on fr. the linden trees along the main axis go gold in late october and the bird's nest reflection in the lake at sunrise is nuts, barely anyone there on weekdays. also check out 798 art district on a weekday morning, the old factory pipes and graffiti make great contrast shots. tbh bring a wider lens than u think you need, everything in beijing is bigger than it looks in photos

everyone goes for the big landmarks but honestly the best shots i got were from the overpasses on the 3rd ring road at dusk, just traffic light trails with CCTV tower lit up in the background. also guomao at blue hour from the silk street footbridge, the CBD towers all glassy & orange, tripod helps cuz u need a slow shutter. one thing nobody mentions, air quality totally changes your photos so check the AQI app the night before, a clear day after rain is worth waiting for

For sunrise the Temple of Heaven east gate area is underrated, locals doing tai chi around 5:30am with the morning fog, way better than fighting crowds at Tiananmen. For sunset honestly just walk along the canal near Shichahai, the reflections off the water with the Drum Tower behind are hard to beat. Bring a tripod if you can, the good light only lasts like 20 mins this time of year.
