im planning a trip around kamitsushima in 2026 and heard about the big kusunoki tree there, someone told me its a famous old tree worth a detour from the station. is it actually free to just walk up and see it or is there some kind of local fee or tour u have to book? also wondering if its really worth the trip if ur not into trees

Kamitsushima is a tiny island, so the tree is free to visit but the ferry and limited 2026 schedules are the real cost and planning hurdle.

the tree itself is just a short walk from the port, no gate, no fee, nobody there to charge u. whether its worth it depends on the vibe u want. if ur not into trees its still a quiet 20 min detour with sea views, but id only bother if u already plan to spend a few hrs on the island. otherwise skip it and stay in Osaka.

Free, no tour. Ferry's the only cost.
