Ya dom / nasal inhalers / herbal medicines tour?

Question

Sort of a niche question, are there tours (similar to an educational cooking class?) that show the history of herbal medicines, specifically ya dom nasal inhalers? Bonus if its shown how its made and what goes into the formulas.

there's no organized tour for this that i know of, but the old town area around banglamphu has a few family-run ya dom shops that have been making them for generations. one called rong siam on samsen road will let you watch them mix the powders if you ask nicely, just go in the morning before 10am when they're doing the batch. for the history part, the ministry of public health's museum on tiwanon road has a section on thai traditional pharmacy that covers the origins of ya dom specifically, it's free and usually empty so you can take your time reading the labels

not a tour exactly but the herbal medicine museum at wat pho is worth a visit, they have a small exhibit on traditional remedies and some ya dom ingredients displayed. for the actual making process, try bangkok herbal apothecary on charoen krung, they do walk-in demos sometimes and you can buy the raw ingredients to blend yourself. it's not a full cooking class setup but way more hands-on than any tour would be
