**🍜 Must-Try Local Dishes** Puning is famous for its Chaoshan cuisine, with highlights like braised goose, oyster omelets, and beef hot pot. Don't miss the local specialty, Puning bean paste noodles, which are rich and savory. Street stalls along Liusha Avenue serve the best versions for around 15-25 RMB per bowl. **🥟 Top Street Food Stalls** Head to the night market on Guanghua Road for an array of street food, including chive dumplings and grilled squid. The stall at the corner of Guanghua Road and Jiefang Road (open 5 PM to midnight) is famous for its crispy spring rolls. Most items cost between 5 and 20 RMB. **🍖 Best Restaurants for Dinner** For a sit-down meal, try Laojie Restaurant at 88 Zhongshan Road, known for its braised goose and steamed fish. Another excellent choice is Chaoji Beef Hotpot at 12 Liusha East Road, where a hotpot meal for two runs about 100-150 RMB. Both are open from 11 AM to 10 PM. **🍰 Sweet Treats and Desserts** Puning's dessert scene features traditional Chaoshan sweet soups, like taro paste and red bean soup. Visit the dessert shop at 45 Wenming Road, which has been serving these treats for over 20 years. A bowl costs around 10-15 RMB, and it's open from 10 AM to 9 PM. **🏘️ Hidden Neighborhood Eateries** Venture into the old town area near Puning Confucius Temple for family-run eateries serving home-style Chaoshan dishes. One hidden gem is Auntie Chen's Kitchen at 3 Temple Lane, open for lunch only (11 AM to 2 PM). Meals are affordable, with most dishes under 30 RMB. **💰 Price Guide and Budget Tips** Street food in Puning is very budget-friendly, with most snacks costing 5-20 RMB. A full meal at a mid-range restaurant averages 50-80 RMB per person. For the best value, eat at stalls and small eateries rather than tourist-oriented spots. **🚌 Getting to Food Hotspots** Most food areas are accessible by local buses or taxis. The night market on Guanghua Road is a 10-minute walk from Puning Bus Station. For Laojie Restaurant, take bus route 2 to Zhongshan Road stop. Taxis within the city center cost around 10-20 RMB per trip. **🌙 Best Evening Food Spots** The night market on Guanghua Road comes alive after 6 PM, with dozens of stalls offering grilled meats, seafood, and cold beers. Another evening favorite is the riverside food street along Lianjiang River, where you can enjoy hotpot while watching the lights. Most stalls operate until midnight.
