the museum tip is solid, ive been a few times and the embroidery gallery is tiny but stunning, they also rotate exhibits every couple months so check their wechat for what's up. one thing the guide doesn't mention is the small teahouse tucked behind the main hall at Puning Temple, it's called Qing Xin Teahouse, they serve this local oolong called feng huang dan cong for like 15 CNY a pot and it's way better than the touristy spots on Zhongshan Road. also if you're at the night market, skip the braised duck from the big stall at the entrance, the one three stalls down on the left with the old lady is actually better and cheaper, her spring rolls are 8 CNY and way crispier. for the Huangqi hike, there's a hidden waterfall about 20 minutes past the main trail if you take the fork to the right at the big boulder, most people miss it because the sign is faded, but it's worth the extra effort.

seconding the wenming road food tip, but i'd add that the best time to hit that alley is actually around 6pm when the bao guy is just setting up and the line hasn't formed yet. also if you're staying near liusha avenue, check out the little dim sum place on the second floor of the building across from the international hotel, they do these shrimp dumplings with a hint of ginger that's hard to find elsewhere in town, around 25 yuan for a basket of eight
the guide's right about wanda plaza being family friendly but the real hidden gem is the morning market on huanshi north road around 7am. all the older locals go there for fresh rice rolls and this soy milk that's way better than what you'll get at hotels. also if you're into hiking, there's a trail behind puning park that leads up to a little temple nobody talks about, takes like 20 minutes and the view over the city is unreal at sunrise
