This is a really well thought out itinerary, you've clearly done your homework. One thing I'd tweak is swapping the riverside dinner on day one for something a bit more substantial, the noodle shop is fine but there's a great little dumpling place called Xiang Yuan just off Renmin Street that does amazing pan-fried pork buns for like 12 RMB. It's a five minute walk from the park exit.
For the zoo, if you're there in summer go as early as you can, the pandas are usually sleeping by 10:30 when the heat kicks in. The morning feeding is around 9:15 and that's when they're most active, it's worth timing it right.
ngl the hotpot rec on day 2 is solid but if you want something more local try the spicy beef hotpot at Xiao Long Xuan on Jiefang Road instead. it's about 60 RMB per person and the broth is way richer than Hai Di Lao, plus they do this homemade chili oil that's insane. also for the riverside walk, skip the noodle shop and grab a beer at the little convenience store near the south gate, sit on the benches by the water and watch the old guys playing chess, that's the real vibe of the city imo
hey this is a great itinerary, really thorough for 3 days. one thing i'd add is that if you're into photography, the sunrise from the little pavilion at the top of shuangfeng mountain is incredible, way better than the afternoon light. i went up at 5:30 AM last fall and had the whole place to myself, the mist over the city was unreal. just check the cable car hours, i think it doesnt start running til 8, so you'd have to hike up which is a killer workout but totally worth it.

The Green Garden Inn courtyard is nice but the real reason I book there is the morning walk along the canal behind the park, there's a stretch of old banyan trees where locals practice tai chi and play erhu around 6am. It's a 15 yuan taxi to Liusha if you need shopping, but the peace at night makes it worth the short ride.
One thing the guide doesn't mention is that the Puning Museum on Guangming Road has a free exhibition on Chaozhou woodcarving that's better than the paid ones in Chaozhou city. It's only open 9am to 4pm and closed Mondays, but the third floor has this room full of old opera masks that most tourists walk right past.
seconding the wenming road food tip, but i'd add that the best time to hit that alley is actually around 6pm when the bao guy is just setting up and the line hasn't formed yet. also if you're staying near liusha avenue, check out the little dim sum place on the second floor of the building across from the international hotel, they do these shrimp dumplings with a hint of ginger that's hard to find elsewhere in town, around 25 yuan for a basket of eight
the guide's right about wanda plaza being family friendly but the real hidden gem is the morning market on huanshi north road around 7am. all the older locals go there for fresh rice rolls and this soy milk that's way better than what you'll get at hotels. also if you're into hiking, there's a trail behind puning park that leads up to a little temple nobody talks about, takes like 20 minutes and the view over the city is unreal at sunrise
