Best ramen around ekkamai thonglor area ? =)

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

not gonna lie, the Bankara shouts are fair but if you're already at Ekkamai you should check the basement of Donki Mall. there's a stall called Menya Musashi that does a thick fish-based tonkotsu, kinda polarizing but the niboshi punch is real. also, the queue at Bankara Thonglor 10 gets brutal after 6, so if you go, aim for like 4pm and grab a seat at the counter, watch them torch the chashu. one thing nobody mentioned, most of these spots close by 10 or 10:30, so late night ramen is a no-go around here unless you hit the 7-11, which honestly has a decent instant bowl if you're desperate.

honestly the best bowl in that area is probably Bankara at Thonglor soi 10, it's a bit hidden but the tonkotsu is proper rich and they do a decent tsukemen too. if you want something more casual, there's a tiny spot called Ramen Tei near Ekkamai BTS that's been around forever, the shoyu is solid and it's cheap, like 150 baht. avoid the touristy ones on the main road, they're all style over substance.

I'll throw in a curveball: skip ramen entirely and hit up Ryudx on Sukhumvit 63 soi 1, it's a tiny izakaya that does a killer abura soba, which is brothless noodles with pork fat, soy, and a raw egg you mix in yourself. It's not traditional ramen but it hits the same craving and the noodles are house-made, plus you can order a side of their gyoza which are properly crispy. Also, if you're there past 10pm, the crowd is mostly locals and the staff loosens up, it's a different vibe than the ramen counters. One heads up, they don't take cards, so bring cash.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
