try the weekend market at chatuchak, there's a section with sports gear that nobody talks about. i found a pair of 16oz twins knockoffs for 800 baht there, lasted me a year of heavy bag work. also check out the small shops on surawong road near patpong, they sell to local gyms and don't jack up prices for tourists. yokkao is mostly branding anyway, you're paying for the logo not the leather

try the shops along rama 4 near khlong toei market, there's a couple of no-name stores that sell basic thai-made gloves for like 500 baht. i got a pair there that lasted me a year, not fancy but does the job. also worth checking the stalls near samrong bts, some of them have decent stuff for way less than the tourist traps

skip the branded stores on sukhumvit, they're all marked up for tourists. head to banthat thong road near chula, there's a couple no-name shops tucked between the food stalls that sell decent gloves and shin guards for like half the price. i got a pair of 12oz twins knockoffs there for 800 baht and they've held up fine for a year. if you're after used stuff, check the weekend market at chatuchak section 8, some guys sell secondhand gear that's barely worn for 300-400 baht

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
