Planning to visit Thailand soon (from a foreign country), already have ticket where I'll be arriving at DMK, but I'm still undecided on where I should stay..

Deciding factors:

-Arrival at DMK

-Safe even at night

-Near the BTS or any mode of transportatiom where my return to DMK will be hassle free

-I'm planning to visit the Sanctuary of Truth, and either Ayutthaya or Grand Palace/Wat Pho.

-Somewhere where budget hostels/lodges are available

-Somewhere where food/mall/7 11s are just within a walking distance.

Many says, Sukhumvit is a great place to stay. Is it a good option?

If not any other recommendations?

sukhumvit works but it's a big area, asoke to ekkamai are very different vibes. for dmk access, consider places near the bts mo chit station - you can take the a1/a2 bus from the airport directly to mo chit for 30 baht, then hop on the bts. the sanctuary of truth is in pattaya not bangkok, you'd need a bus from ekkamai terminal. for grand palace/wat pho, stay near saphan taksin bts and take the express boat, it's faster than a taxi. khao san road area is actually more convenient for those temples and grand palace, plus has cheap hostels and direct vans to ayutthaya for like 60 baht. just avoid the drunk crowd past midnight on khao san itself, stay on a side soi like rambuttri.

honestly for dmk access, the bts mo chit area is your best bet. from mo chit it's a quick bus or grab to the airport, maybe 20 mins. sukhumvit can be a pain because you'd have to take the bts all the way north to mo chit first, which adds 30-40 mins and costs like 60 baht each way.

for the sanctuary of truth, that's in pattaya, not bangkok. you'd need a bus from ekkamai terminal or a van from mo chit, both about 2 hours. if you're set on that, staying near ekkamai bts makes the bus easier but it's further from dmk.

the khao san area is honestly underrated for your list. you're walking distance to the grand palace and wat pho, plus there are direct vans to ayutthaya from the station near mo chit or from khao san itself for about 60-100 baht. tons of cheap hostels on rambuttri soi, and 7 elevens are everywhere. just don't expect a mall vibe, it's more street food and chaos.

i'd go with rattanakosin island area near khao san tbh. way closer to grand palace and wat pho, you can walk there in 10 mins. for dmk just grab a taxi from that side of town, it's like 30-40 mins and cheap. sukhumvit is fine but you'll be spending a lot of time on the bts going back and forth

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
