Do pharmacies here allow buying antibiotics without a prescription?

Alternatively, are there private clinics that sell these kind of drugs to foreigners, no questions asked kind of way?

honestly you can just buy doxy at most pharmacies here but the real trick is knowing which ones stock legit stuff. the pharmacy near phrom phong bts on soi 33/1 is solid, theyve got the generic doxy for like 40 baht for a strip of 10. brand wise youll mostly see it as "doxycycline" or sometimes "vibramycin" but the generics are fine if the place looks clean and has a pharmacist behind the counter.

if u want a clinic that doesnt ask much, try the one in the little soi off sukhumvit 49, near the samitivej hospital area. they do walkins for like 600 baht and will give you a script for doxy without a deep exam. just say u need it for acne or something.

just go to any pharmacy in a tourist area like khao san or sukhumvit, they'll sell you doxycycline no problem. costs like 30-50 baht for a pack of 10. the generic is just labeled "doxycycline" but you might see "doxyhexal" or "doxylis" sometimes. if you want a clinic that's super chill, the one inside the sukhumvit plaza on soi 5 does walk-ins for 400 baht and they'll prescribe whatever you ask for basically.

yeah you can walk into most pharmacies and buy doxycycline over the counter no script needed. it's sold under the generic name doxycycline here mostly, or sometimes as vibramycin. just ask for "doxy" at any pharmacy on sukhumvit or silom, they'll know what you mean. if you want a private clinic that won't ask questions, try medconsult clinic near asok, they do quick consults for like 500 baht and hand out antibiotics without much fuss. just keep in mind the quality of antibiotics varies here, stick to pharmacies that look legit like boots or fascino

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
