the sportsman is solid, that's the classic pick. but if u want a slightly less dark, more open spot, check out the duke's in ekkamai. their batter's a bit thicker, more beer batter style, and they do a proper malt vinegar drizzle. also they've got decent pies if u wanna mix it up. one thing tho, ask for the fish well done if u can, sometimes they pull it early and it's a bit pale. and skip the tartare sauce, theirs is too mayo heavy, the vinegar's the way to go.
if u want proper pub style with malt vinegar, hit the sportsman pub on suk soi 13. they do a legit haddock batter, crispy and not greasy, and they've got that vinegar on the table. it's a bit of a dark old school spot but that's the vibe. if u're closer to thonglor, the black swan is decent too but the sportsman's batter is lighter imo. just avoid the mall food court versions, those are sad.
Another one worth throwing in the mix is the Robin Hood, there's a branch on Sukhumvit 33 and one near the British Embassy. They do a proper pub style with a decent chunky cut, and they've got the malt vinegar bottles on the tables already. It's a bit more family friendly than the sportsman, less of a dive, but the chips are proper chunky ones, not the skinny fries. Just don't expect anything fancy, it's classic boozer food.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
