Where can I get a fish that isn't chatuchat?

My daughter (toddler) loves fish. She could watch them all day. Where can I get a goldfish or a betta fish that isn't chatuchat? My daughter (toddler) loves fish. She could watch them all day. Where can I get a goldfish or a betta fish that isn't chatuchat?

if you're near bangkok's old town, pahurat market has a few tiny fish shops tucked between the fabric stalls. they usually have bettas for 40-50 baht and the owners are old ladies who've been selling for decades, they'll let your daughter sit on a stool and watch for a while. the tanks are small but the fish are healthy, and it's way less overwhelming than chatuchak for a toddler. also the soi along charoen krung near the river has a couple of shops that sell goldfish for like 20 baht each, nothing fancy but they're fine

there's a small shop on soi udomsuk near the on nut bts that's just a guy with tanks in his garage, sells bettas for like 30 baht and goldfish for 15, super quiet and the guy is nice about kids staring for a while. google maps calls it "udom fish" i think, it's easy to miss

honestly skip the weekend crowds and hit up Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin on a weekday evening. there's a solid row of fish stalls near the vintage section, they have bettas for like 50 baht and goldfish for even less. the vendors there are pretty chill about letting kids watch too, just dont let her touch the tanks. also check the pet floor at Siam Paragon, it's overpriced but the tanks are clean and the fish are healthy, good for a quick look if you're already in the area.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
