if you want a proper locals night out without the backpacker scene, head to sukhumvit soi 26 for singha beer house. it's a big open air spot with live music and street food vendors right outside, mostly thai families and office workers. for something quieter during the day, the bangkok art and culture centre near siam usually has interesting exhibits and the cafe on the top floor never gets packed

check out the talad rot fai night market if u want something less touristy than the usual spots. good food and vintage stuff without the chaos.

honestly skip khao san road and head to ari. lots of chill cafes and local food spots without the tourist swarm. try nana coffee for a quiet afternoon.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
