Rama IV/Lumphini good location for first time in Bangkok?

It's been very overwhelming trying to figure out where to stay based on reddit/internet, tentatively booked hotel here. I'm a solo F traveler fwiw. Thoughts? yeah that area works fine for a first timer, honestly the mrt lumphini stop makes it super easy to get around. if you want a quieter vibe for breakfast hit up the little coffee shop on soi sarasin near the park entrance, they do a decent khao tom and the owner is nice about solo diners

just a heads up the walk from the hotel to the mrt can feel a bit dead at night on some stretches, stick to the main road and you'll be fine. sukhumvit's only 2 stops away if you wanna bar hop but having lumphini park right there is a nice escape from the chaos

lumpinee is a great call for a first timer tbh, mostly because you get the best of both worlds - easy mrt access to the tourist spots but also a real neighborhood feel if you wander into the soi behind the park. the morning market near the mrt exit 2 around 6am has some of the best khao tom in the area, just look for the lady with the big silver pots and point at what looks good

ngl the area's solid for a first timer, especially if you want to be near the park without the Sukhumvit noise. one thing ppl don't mention is that corner has a good nightlife pocket on Soi Sawaddee 1, like Tep Bar for live music and a few chill rooftop places. it's a 5 min walk from Lumphini MRT exit 3.

for food, skip the mall and walk to the Ratchadamri soi 2 area, there's a muslim restaurant there that does killer roti and curry for like 50 baht. also the 7-11 on that corner has the best selection of random snacks i've seen in the city. you'll be fine solo, just use Grab for late night rides if u feel sketched out by the sidewalk situation.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
