ngl the other comments are right about the river but if you want a more chill stoner crowd, check out the area around Sukhumvit Soi 11. there's a few hookah lounges that let you vape or smoke outside without hassle, just tip the staff 50 baht and they'll look the other way. grab some edibles from "Cannabis Cafe" on Soi 11/1 before midnight, they sell gummies that hit in about an hour so time it right for the countdown. for fireworks, the best view without the crush is from the footbridge over Phra Pok Klao Bridge, you'll see both riverside shows and the skyline. just bring a lighter because everyone will ask to borrow yours

The other reply's got the river covered but I'd point you toward a different spot. Asok area by the BTS station has a few rooftop bars that aren't too pricey and you can smoke discreetly on the stairwell landings before going up. The crowd there is usually a mix of expats and locals who don't mind chatting with a solo guy. For meeting people, try the beer garden at Terminal 21's top floor around 9pm, it's open air and people are in a festive mood. The fireworks over Benjakitti Park are visible from there too, less chaotic than the riverfront.

honestly, being solo on NYE in Bangkok is a vibe if you lean into it. hit up Khao San Road early, like 7pm, grab a joint from one of the sketchy street vendors near the police box, they're always around, just look for the guys selling "incense". smoke a bit while wandering, then head to the river near Wat Phra Kaew for the countdown fireworks, they launch at midnight from the temple grounds. if you want to meet people, sit at a bar on Soi Rambuttri instead of Khao San, it's calmer and you'll prob end up chatting with other solo travelers. just avoid tuk-tuks after midnight, they'll try to charge you 200 baht for a 5 minute ride.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
