I run a small tour company that focuses on the less obvious parts of Bangkok. Instead of the Grand Palace circuit, we take people through the old canal networks in Thonburi or show them how to navigate the weekend market like a local. My favorite thing is still the morning routine though, grabbing khao tom and grilled pork from the lady on Soi Rang Nam before the heat sets in.

live here full time now, work remote doing software stuff. mostly spend my free time eating my way through bangkok though, the street food scene never gets old. if you're new, hit up the soi 38 market near thong lo for some legit boat noodles that'll run u like 40 baht

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
