Alt nightclubs for NYE?

Hey, it's my first time in Bangkok (and Thailand over all) and I'm traveling with 8 other people in my family. However, only 3 of us (F30, M31, M33) are thinking of maybe going to a nightclub after th… Hey, it's my first time in Bangkok (and Thailand over all) and I'm traveling with 8 other people in my family. However, only 3 of us (F30, M31, M33) are thinking of maybe going to a nightclub after the whole "Happy New Year!!!". But I'd like some suggestions. What nightclubs do you recommend going to, any events happening? I'd say we are not usually people who go to nightclubs and if we do, we are more into the alternative stuff, like psychedelic and raves and things like that. Hopefully there are places you can get into without having to book something in advance and hopefully it's not too expensive.. 😁😬 Our flight leaves on the 29th. I saw someone suggesting an emo club of some sort, which is not really our vibe.

And if not a club, you're fully welcome to suggest a cool bar instead. 😅 I just kind of want to do something without kids since we are also bringing along 2 children (we are not the parents though).

if you're into more underground stuff, check out the bars around khao san road but not on it - there's a few hidden spots that play psytrance and won't charge cover. really, for nye in bangkok, most clubs will have a minimum spend or entry fee that night, so booking ahead is kinda the norm for larger groups. if you want something more chill, try a rooftop bar like tichuca (it's a bit touristy but the vibe is good) or a dive bar in ekkamai like the iron fairies, they usually have live music and no cover

honestly check out beam or mustache bar, they're more underground and have that alternative vibe without being too touristy. might be able to walk in on nye but get there early just in case, it's not super pricey compared to the big clubs

u could try safe room, it's a techno/warehouse kinda place near thong lor. not super clubby or fancy, more of a dark room with good sound. they'll have a nye party for sure but might be a bit pricier than usual, think 500-800 baht cover

if that's too much, studio lam in charoen krung is a cool bar that turns into a dance spot later. they play funk, disco, some house, not really rave but definitely alternative. no cover usually, just buy a drink. walkable from the river if you're near there

for actual rave vibes, check out mustache bar or beam on a normal night but nye will be chaos everywhere tbh. your best bet is picking one spot early and staying put, moving around with 3 people in that crowd is a pain

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
