For something a bit off the tourist trail, try Sangtong Tattoo on Charoen Krung near the River City complex. It is a small shop run by a Thai-Japanese artist who does really clean geometric and blackwork, and they usually take walk-ins on weekdays. Pricing is around 2500-4000 baht for smaller pieces, and the street food stalls right outside are great for a bite while you wait. Just note that they close at 6pm, so plan to get there in the early afternoon.
if you're around siam square, check out ink me bangkok on the 3rd floor of siam square one. they do walk-ins pretty consistently and the vibe is way more chill than khao san. ngl, the pricing is a bit higher, think 4000-7000 baht for something medium sized, but the hygiene standards are better and they use good quality ink. just get there early, like before noon, cause the good walk-in slots fill up fast
imo the best bang for your buck walk-in is at baan tattoo on pracha rat bamphen road near huai khwang. it's a bit out of the way from tourist spots but the artists there specialize in traditional thai sak yant if you want something cultural, or they do clean modern stuff too. pricing is around 2000-3500 baht and they're open till 9pm so you can show up later in the day. the neighborhood has killer isaan food stalls nearby if you get hungry while waiting
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
