Where to go if you're drinking alone?
have u tried the rooftop at above eleven on sukhumvit 11? it's not the tallest view but the food is actually good and the bar area has these little nooks where u can sit alone without feeling weird. the staff are used to solo drinkers and they'll leave u alone unless u wave them over. gets busy after 10pm but before that it's chill enough to read a book or just scroll ur phone with a glass of wine
Mikkeller Bar on Sukhumvit 26 is solid for solo drinking. It's a craft beer place with a long bar counter facing the taps, so you can just sit there and watch the bartenders work. The crowd is mostly expats and they keep the music at a level where you can actually talk to the person next to you if you want. Prices are higher than street beer but the selection rotates regularly and the staff know their stuff.
theres a spot called the bar downstairs at hilton sukhumvit on soi 24, its not really a rooftop or a craft beer place but it has this weird charm. its a lobby bar essentially, comfy couches and a big tv playing sports usually, and the prices are lower than most of the sukhumvit places. i've sat there for hours with a singha and nobody bothers you, plus the AC is strong enough to forget the heat outside. its not hip or anything but sometimes that's the point.
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
