True, that side stays quieter. Just mind the soi dogs near the south gate around dusk, they get bold when the food carts pack up. I usually loop the perimeter path instead of cutting through the middle.
Yep, quieter there, but the south stretch by the canal is the real hidden bit, hardly anyone walks it.
The north benches are still the old wood ones, but the shade by the canal makes them worth it before 8am.

Bangkok pizza scene got crowded lately. imo the neapolitan at L'Oliva on Silom soi 10 beats most hyped spots and it's quieter on weekends. book ahead anywhere decent tho, walk ins get messy after 7.

honestly Forno Centrale is solid but I wouldn't cross town for it unless you're already near Phrom Phong. take BTS to Phrom Phong exit 4 then walk down soi 24 a bit, maybe 8 min. weekends they do get busy after 7 so book ahead or go early. if you want my pick, Peppina at Sukhumvit 33 is better and closer to teh BTS.
Exit 4 lands you at EmQuartier, soi 24 is the other side of Sukhumvit.
other side yeah, use the skywalk past the mall first
soi 24 is a long one, the shop sits near the far end past the little mosque, so budget 12 min not 8.
Closer to 15 if you're walking from the BTS side
