There's a shophouse two sois down doing nam khaeng sai with fresh coconut, better than the mango sticky rice places on the main road.

Blue awning one shuts at seven sharp but she keeps a few tubs of durian ice cream frozen out back if you ask nicely.
yeah that shophouse is solid, just get there before 5 or the coconut syrup runs out.
Ask for the syrup on the side and it stretches to 6, though the ice melts fast in April heat.
agreed on that shophouse beating the main road spots, the mango sticky rice there is all tourist markup anyway. fwiw they also do a decent lod chong if u get there early. what soi is it on exactly? i always mix up the turn after the 7-Eleven.

True, that side stays quieter. Just mind the soi dogs near the south gate around dusk, they get bold when the food carts pack up. I usually loop the perimeter path instead of cutting through the middle.
Yep, quieter there, but the south stretch by the canal is the real hidden bit, hardly anyone walks it.
The north benches are still the old wood ones, but the shade by the canal makes them worth it before 8am.
