Sunny Deli on Sukhumvit Soi 22: still worth it in 2026?

I used to grab a pastrami sandwich there around 250 baht back when the lease was cheap. Curious whether anyone still rates the area for living now that the condos have crept in.

Pastrami there is closer to 320 now and the corner unit got reworked last year, same owner though. Soi 22 living is fine if you're near the BTS end, but deeper in it's all condo towers and tuk tuk noise. I'd take Soi 23 over 22 honestly.

Soi 23's bar soi kills it after 10pm though

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

True, but the worst of it stays in that first stretch near the bars. Walk five minutes up toward the temple side and it's mostly families and shophouses, pretty quiet after dark.

fair point on the bar noise, though the 23 side calms down past the little mosque. tbh the real killer on 22 is the afternoon school run near the Ekamai end, cars double parked everywhere. curious how long uve been on 23?

three years on 23, moobaan side past the bars

The BTS end is the only bit of that street I'd live on, agreed. One thing nobody mentions is the flooding at the mouth of the street after a big rain, that underpass area gets knee deep.

320 sounds about right for that stretch now. one thing though, the 23 side gets rough past midnight near the Rajaah alley bars, so its not exactly quiet either. depends which end u land on tbh.

Condo side of 22 floods worse past the 7-Eleven.

yeah the bts end wins by default, just watch the moobaan entrance flooding after big rain. 23 still better overall imo

320 stings but the real question is whether u ever tried the reuben there, cos thats where they still earn the rent

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
