Where do people usually set up for a full workday, and how do you handle the time zone overlap with Europe or the US? Also wondering how long most remote workers end up staying.

Ari on Phaya Thai, 24h and quiet after 10.

Which spot on Phaya Thai? I'm near Saphan Khwai and still hunting for a late night desk. My condo fibre holds up fine but the upload is mediocre so I'd rather work out.

internet around rama iv is fine, true fibre from ais or 3bb in most condos, just ask the juristic office before you sign since some buildings are stuck on adsl. i work out of true digital park or the cafes on sukhumvit 24, the mandarin area is more hotel lobby wifi. for europe i start early around 7 & knock off by 3, then the evening is free. most people i know last 3 to 6 months, the 60 day visa extensions make it easy to keep going

yeah the adsl thing is real, check before signing

some buildings cap upload at 10mbps, kills zoom calls

true digital park is a solid shout but factor in the BTS ride from rama iv, it's not walkable in the heat

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

The upload cap is the real trap, AIS fibre in my building gives 500/500 but a friend two sois over is stuck at 10 up and can't do video.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Their som tam is prob the most authentic I've found in the city, and the grilled chicken is always on point. Anyone else go here?

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
