Best omakase sushi near Edomae in Bangkok 2026?

fmd_goodEdomae · #sushi
I'm visiting Bangkok in March 2026 and Edomae style sushi is at the top of my list. Any recommendations for a good omakase counter around Edomae, and do I need to book well ahead? Sushi Masato, book two months out.

two months is about right for the counter, though weekday lunch slots open up closer to two weeks if ur flexible

yeah weekday lunches are the move, most places only open bookings a week or so out

lunch slots also get released when someone cancels, so ring around 10am same day. places in thonglor tend to be softer than the silom ones. march is peak so dont count on it

Masato's counter is tiny so those slots vanish, worth setting a calendar reminder for the first of the month.

Book via their Line or a hotel concierge, the online form rarely gets answered in time.

Edomae is a style, not a neighborhood, so you'll be looking at counters across the city. Sushi Ichizu on Sukhumvit Soi 24 does a proper Edomae-leaning set and is easier to get into than the big names. March is high season, so call ahead regardless. Expect around 4,000 to 6,000 baht before drinks.

Fair, but add Sushi Zo on Thonglor, quieter counter.

arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

Good shout on the quieter vibe, though their booking window is shorter, more like three weeks out.

Zo's nice and quiet but the otsumami side is weaker than the nigiri, so go hungry and skip the small talk.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
