What are some recommended attractions to visit in this city?

If you've already done the temple circuit, spend a morning at the Bang Krachao green lung instead. It's the big loop of jungle across the river in Phra Pradaanaeng, you reach it by ferry from Klong Toei pier for a few baht then rent a bike for around 50 baht. The elevated concrete paths wind through mangroves and stilt houses, and the Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan park has a tower with a view back over the whole skyline. Go early on a weekday because weekends bring the Bangkok crowd on their own bikes.

honestly the khlong boat ride is underrated, like 10-20 baht and you see a whole different side of the city. Talad Noi is also cool if you wanna just wander alleys and grab street food, way more chill than the big temples.

the Grand Palace is the obvious one but honestly its packed and pricey now, 500 baht entry. i'd say Wat Arun across the river is more worth it, especially around sunset when you can take the 4 baht ferry from Tha Tien pier. if u want something quieter, go to the old Portuguese neighborhood in Kudeejeen, not many tourists make it out there.

Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but I've always found their som tam a bit tame on the pla ra. If you want the real funky version, try the shophouse spots along Soi Udomsuk 26, near the night market end. They pound it fresh with fermented fish that'll clear your sinuses, and it's like 60 baht. Different style from the On Nut places, more Lao-leaning.

for som tam specifically i'd say the Isaan spots in Chatuchak are underrated, weekdays only though since the weekend crowd ruins the vibe. there's a stall near gate 2 that does tam pa with fermented bamboo shoots, super sour and funky, not something you see much in On Nut. if you're already heading north for Or Tor Kor anyway its worth the detour.

honestly the som tam at Krua Dok Mai Kao is good but what got me hooked is their nam prik pla raa dip with the raw veggies, that funk hits way harder than the papaya does. think most people sleep on it cuz they just order the som tam and gai yang. also pro tip, go before noon on weekdays, after that teh pla ra gets milder cuz they batch it for the lunch rush
